After a long journey of feeling like trash about m

After a long journey of feeling like trash about myself, 2,5 years ago I was finally diagnosed with adhd. Being diagnosed so late in life can be a relief but also stirs up many other emotions that one will have to work through in new ways. Things start to make sense but need to be untangled on another long af journey that usually involves finding the right medical treatment (adhd often comes with other comorbidities such as depression, social anxiety etc.) and the fitting therapy in order to achieve long lasting habitual changes and self-understanding. My journey has not been easy so far and even though I still struggle a lot, it helps to have a name tag on it and I somehow found a loving community of fellow neurospicy friends over the years and feel more understood and connected. Thank you x

Sending lots of love and kindness to all the ones who are also on their journey to better understand themselves (and others).

Going through a lot atm but still trying to cheris

Going through a lot atm but still trying to cherish the little things. Wrote some new songs I really like, got given a melon (my fav fruit), conditioned my dog to silly meme things, got some new Lego pieces I can play with, got blinded by the sun (I welcome it, although it doesn’t look like it), rediscovered nostalgic comfort food that I eat every day atm. Apart from that, I cry a lot, play music and try to lift my mood somehow. Comedy recommendations welcome xx

Some simple things that help me calm down a little

Some simple things that help me calm down a little when I’m feeling way too overwhelmed and overstimulated by the world.

🚨Important note: these things help me but they might not do it for you. I’ve struggled from severe anxiety disorder and derealisation when I was a teenager and only through therapy, taking meds for a while and focusing on de-stressing methods like meditation, sensory deprivation, spending lots of time in nature and with people who were patient and understanding, I managed to get to a point now where these simple exercises help me manage my moments of anxiety nowadays. It wasn’t easy and it still isn’t but it can get better.

If you feel like you can’t manage it on our own, please seek help. Call your gp or ask a friend to help you with calls etc. there are also anonymous helplines that are easy to find in your town, just give it a google!
